Our teachers recognize areas where children excel and will provide positive reinforcement for these accomplishments. Just as important teachers will also address areas where children may need more attention, in this case one-on-one guidance can be given or the child can be paired with children who are strong in the area. Our teachers believe:
• Children must have some control over the direction of their learning;
• Children must learn through experiences of touching, moving, listening, seeing, and hearing;
• Children have a relationship with other children and with material items in the world;
• Children must have endless ways and opportunities to express themselves.
Parents are viewed as partners in their child’s learning process. We want our parents to be involved in the program. We expect our families to volunteer at the center whenever they can. There are opportunities to assist in the classrooms, chaperon field trips, welcome new families, and attend Little LYNC events when needed. Parents are encouraged to give feedback on their child’s learning experiences at preschool and share their goals for their child. Parents are expected to work with the teachers to create a positive, fun, and creative environment for their children to learn.
We also offer parent education classes that families can participate in such as workshops on childhood nutrition, toilet training, sleeping patterns, and understanding child development stages. Parents can suggest ideas on what classes they would like to see offered so we are better able to suit their needs.
